Award winners at IDA in 2023
We are proud to present the awards below recognising the achievements of students, teachers and researchers at the Department of Computer and Information Science (IDA), Linköping University.
Best Paper Award
Sijin Cheng, Sebastián Ferrada and Olaf Hartig
The Division of Database and Information Techniques (ADIT)
Sijin Cheng, Sebastián Ferrada and Olaf Hartig have received the Best Paper Award at the 29th International Conference on Cooperative Information Systems, CoopIS 2023, 30 October-3 November, Groningen, the Netherlands.
The award is for their paper:
Considering Vocabulary Mappings in Query Plans for Federations of RDF Data Sources.
While there exists a lot of research work and tools to align ontologies with one another and to find mappings between them, this is the first paper that introduces a systematic approach to actually use such mappings for an integrated querying of multiple data sources.

The Division of Software and Systems (SAS)
The paper “Design proposal of a standardized Base Modelica language" by Gerd Kurzbach, Oliver Lenord, Hans Olsson, Martin Sjölund and Henrik Tidefelt has been selected for the Best Paper Award during the 15th International Modelica Conference in Aachen, 9-11 October, 2023.
Swedish Game Award: Best Debut & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in Linköping & Östergötland County
Fredrik Präntare
The Division of Artificial Intelligence and Integrated Computer Systems (AIICS)
Fredrik Präntare has been awarded Best Debut 2023 for the game Core Keeper at the Swedish Game Awards 8-9 September 2023, the largest competition in game development in Sweden. It is held annually since 2002 by non-profit Association of Swedish Game Developers.
In addition, Fredrik Präntare has been awarded young entrepreneur of the year 2023 both in Linköping and Östergötland county. Read more about the company Pugstorm and the game Core Keeper.
Best Demo Award
Nikolaos Pappas
The Division of Database and Information Techniques (ADIT)
The work is a collaboration between Nikolaos Pappas, at the Division of Database and Information Techniques, and Polina Kutsevol, Onur Ayan, and Wolfgang Kellerer at the Technical University of Munich, Germany.
The demo showcases the benefits of incorporating the semantics of information and goal-oriented communications for Wireless Networked Controlled Systems, and is a clear indication of its superiority compared to the state of the art.

Ana Kustrak Korper and Stefan Holmlid
The Division of Human-Centered Systems (HCS)
Ana Kustrak Korper and Stefan Holmlid has been awarded Best Paper 2023 in Emerald Literati Awards in September 2023.
Ana and Stefan, the Division of Human-Centered systems (HCS), and Lia Patricio, University of Porto, are awarded for the paper “The role of meaning in service innovation: a conceptual exploration”, published in the Journal of Service Theory and Practice.
EurAI Artificial Intelligence Dissertation Diploma

In September 2023, Mattias Tiger was awarded the 2022 EurAI dissertation diploma for ensuring that real world deployment of robots and autonomous systems can take place safely.
