Research on mediated culture at the Division of Culture, Society, Design and Media at the Department of Culture and Society (IKOS), has a broad focus, including the study of both the media texts themselves as well as their production, dissemination, use and regulation.

An important starting point for research in this area is how the development of modern communication technology interacts with and influences different social and cultural processes. Contemporary topics co-exist alongside historical approaches that focus on media history and media archeology.

Research in mediated culture encompasses a broad spectrum of topics that include not only media and culture, but also knowledge production and science. Regardless of approach or topic, we encourage interdisciplinary engagement and cross-boundary methodologies.
