Subject-based approaches in natural sciences instruction

Education in general and in the sciences in particular is not
infrequently characterised by general subject-based or pedagogical approaches, which might be anything from laboratory method, ”inquiry-based learning” and ”flipped classroom” to outdoor education.

Research in this area is focussed partly on further developing subject-based approaches in the natural sciences and partly on investigating and critically examining their contemporary historical and cultural expression.

The extended NO-classroom – Outdoor education and alternative learning environments

The classroom is not the only place where pupils can learn about the natural sciences. Our research into alternative learning environments focusses on instruction and learning in natural environments

Postgraduate projects

The flipped NO classroom

This project studies the “flipped classroom” as a method of working and as a pedagogical current. The focus is on understanding this movement in a Swedish school context.
