Associate Professor, Docent

I am interested in comparative law, international cooperation in the field of law, the relationship between language and law, and I would particularly like to emphasize the value of interdisciplinary research collaborations.

Proactive law and interdisciplinary approach

At the beginning of my research career, I became interested in comparative law, which led me to questions about the internationalization of law and the relationship between language and law. An interest in proactive law has, in turn, led to an understanding of the value of interdisciplinary research collaborations.

I wrote my doctoral thesis on the statute of limitations for claims for damages, as I was and still am interested in fundamental civil law. In it, I compared German, French, Danish, and Norwegian law with Swedish law. I also wrote a short book on simple partnerships, in which I compared the Swedish regulatory framework with the corresponding German and French frameworks.

My interest in proactive law has in turn led to my involvement in interdisciplinary projects. One completed project concerned a new business model, functional sales, with a particular focus on the functional sale of light. I am co-authoring an article on the legal aspects of this business model with Annelie Carlsson, who is an expert in areas such as life cycle analysis and life cycle cost calculation.

Ongoing projects

Balanced thermal networks – BTN

I am currently conducting research within the framework of a project called “Balanced Thermal Networks” (BTN). These networks consist of pipes containing water at a temperature of between 10° and 35°–40°. Energy is extracted from and supplied to this water to cool and heat buildings, respectively, with the supply of energy being balanced by the extraction of energy in principle. The purpose of the research is to investigate the societal, particularly legal, conditions for establishing and operating such networks. The research is funded by the Swedish Energy Agency.

Sustainable energy production

At the time of writing, I am involved in an application for funding for a project concerning the possibilities of achieving sustainable energy production with regard to the environment, existing cultural environments, and regional growth. There are conflicting goals here, but at the same time there are opportunities to achieve synergies.

Procurement

Another project I am involved in is the establishment of a center for procurement, initially focusing on public procurement, and the possibility of using this legal institution to achieve sustainable resource use and a circular economy.
