Borrowing rules and policy

Loan period

The standard loan period for books is 21 days, but if there is a reservation on the item when you borrow it, the loan period is reduced to 7 days.

When the loan period expires, the loan is renewed automatically for another period unless there is a reservation on the item.

Reference copies of textbooks can be checked out on a day loan basis only.

Extended summer loan period from 29 May

Library books borrowed between 29 May and 30 July will get the due date 21 August. Please note that this does not apply to dayloan items and items with holds.

Returning your loans

You can return a standard loan item at any LiU library in Linköping or Norrköping regardless of where you borrowed it; use the self-return machine. Library books can also be placed in the book drop outside the library entrance.

If you need to return a book by mail, use the following address:

Reference copies of textbooks (day loan items) must be returned at the library where you borrowed them.

As a LiU student in distance education you have access to e-books and articles and can have printed books sent to your home address.
