A PhD-level course on ion channels, which includes a week at ion-channel laboratories in Linköping University and online seminars before and after. Lectures on ion channel theory will be complemented by hands-on workshops on experimental techniques and computational methods.

Time & place: Oct.30: Online introduction seminar; week #45 (Nov.3-7) on-site at Linköping University campus US; Dec.2-3: online examination seminars.

The course comprises:

  1. An online introductory seminar
  2. A week at Linköping University campus US with lectures and workshops on ion channel methods
  3. Online group presentations

Expect to learn about:

  1. General membrane electrophysiology
  2. Methods to study ion channel structure and function
  3. The properties of ligand-gated ion channels
  4. The properties of voltage-gated ion channels
  5. Role of ion channels in physiology (neuronal / cardiac excitability)
  6. Role of ion channels in disease
  7. Basic principles of ion-channel pharmacology and drug design
