Gustav doktorerar i reglerteknik vid Institutionen för systemteknik, med inriktning mot sensorfusion och signalbehandling. Under sin doktorandtid har han fokuserat på två olika appliceringar inom området, båda med praktiska inslag och tillämpningar.
