Social epidemiology is a branch of epidemiology that examines how social factors and processes contribute to the unequal distribution of health and illness. It investigates health inequalities based on factors such as socioeconomic status, social class, immigrant background, housing conditions, and geographic differences. This course presents models for analyzing health inequalities, including those focused on social determinants of health, material conditions, psychosocial factors, and life course perspectives. The course learns theories and methods in social epidemiology for the planning, interpretation, and evaluation of scientific studies using epidemiological methods.
