I study why some ways of understanding society become self-evident while others disappear. Using computationally intensive methods and philosophy of science perspectives, I analyse how knowledge is shaped in social contexts.

Presentation

My research seeks to explain which concepts, methods and theoretical frameworks for the study of society gain authority and which are marginalised.

This interest stems partly from a sociological interest in how knowledge is shaped within social and institutional contexts, and partly from philosophical questions regarding the foundations of social science knowledge.

In both cases, the rapidly increasing availability of digital data, together with the development of methods for processing it, has opened up new possibilities.

By combining theoretical analysis and social simulation with empirical studies of large volumes of text, I can trace how ideas move between different fields of research and public contexts. The analysis focuses not only on what is expressed in texts and practices, but also on which assumptions are taken for granted.

The aim is to contribute to a more reflexive understanding of the conditions of knowledge production and its significance for both social science research and broader public debate.
