Aircraft design and systems

We carry out research in close cooperation with the aviation industry, where our research focusses on design, concept development, aircraft systems, aerodynamics and sub-scale test flights.

Aeronautical Engineering, Master's Programme, 120 credits

This programme offers a holistic view on aircraft design. Thanks to close collaboration between the University and the aerospace industry, you will be prepared for working with aircraft design, aircraft engineering, or wind turbine engineering.

Master students constructing drones

Designing and building an autonomously flying aircraft to document weather conditions in an Arctic climate. The master’s students in Aeronautical Engineering received a substantial boost in applying their theoretical knowledge.

The engine caught fire - but the students won the prize

Despite a number of setbacks, LiU master's students won a title in the big SAE Aero Design aviation competition in Brazil. LiU is now investing in recurring student projects aimed at competing with small, remote-controlled aircraft.
