Möjlig mekanism bakom gåtfulla symtom vid covid-19 upptäckt

Forskare har upptäckt att kroppens immunförsvar kan påverka spikproteinet på sars-cov-2-virusets yta så att det bildar felveckat protein, så kallat amyloid. Fynden pekar mot en möjlig koppling mellan skadlig amyloidbildning och symtom vid covid-19.

Kameleontmolekyler skiljer på olika plack i hjärnan

I en och samma hjärna som drabbats av Alzheimers sjukdom finns ofta flera typer av amyloidplack, enligt en ny studie i PNAS. Spårarmolekyler från LiU har för första gången använts på hjärnvävnad från avlidna personer med sjukdomen.
