Kostiantyn Kucher föddes i Odessa, Ukraina. Han tog en masterexamen med utmärkelse i datavetenskap vid Odessa National Polytechnic University 2012. Under 2013–2018 var Kostiantyn doktorand med inriktning mot informationsvisualisering och visuell analys under handledning av Prof. Dr. Andreas Kerren i forskningsgruppen ISOVIS vid Institutionen för datavetenskap och medieteknik vid Linnéuniversitetet. Kostiantyn disputerade på sin doktorsavhandling med titeln "Sentiment and Stance Visualization of Textual Data for Social Media" i april 2019. Under december 2018–december 2019 var han forskningsassistent i forskningsgruppen ISOVIS vid LNU.

Under januari 2020–augusti 2022 var han biträdande universitetslektor vid Institutionen för datavetenskap och medieteknik vid LNU. Under maj 2021–augusti 2022 var Kostiantyn även gästadjunkt på deltid vid Linköpings universitet.

Från och med september 2022 är Kostiantyn universitetslektor i forskningsgruppen iVis vid Institutionen för teknik och naturvetenskap vid Linköpings universitet i Norrköping.

Juni 2023: Dr. Katerina Vrotsou och Dr. Kostiantyn Kucher samredigerar ett specialnummer om Visual Analytics: Techniques and Applications i tidskriften Analytics (MDPI). Sista inlämningsdag för papper har förlängts till den 30 september 2024.
