Professor

Logistics has in recent years become an increasingly important competitive tool for many companies. My research focuses on better understanding the role of logistics in such a context.

Presentation

I am a professor of logistics management. My research primarily revolves around issues related to supply chain management, strategy development, and the organization of logistics activities.

Logistics from a Strategic Perspective

My research concerns the strategic role and significance of logistics in companies, public organizations as well as society in general. Good logistics can contribute to reduced costs and higher delivery service, but also to improved profitability, growth, environmental sustainability, and customer value. Logistics then becomes not just an isolated issue for the logistics function, but an important piece of the puzzle in the organization’s overall strategic work.

Logistics research in general often follows larger societal trends, and therefore, in recent years, I have specifically studied the role of logistics in a circular economy, as well as the importance of having good resilience and preparedness in our Swedish freight transport system. Both of these areas are becoming increasingly strategically important for many organizations, while also being crucial for our transition towards a more sustainable society.

Close Collaboration with Industry and Society

My research can be described as applied, and in all the research projects I lead, companies and other stakeholders in the society are involved in various ways. It is together, through a mutual exchange and dialogue between practice and academia, that new, relevant knowledge can be created.

Teaching Future Logisticians

I teach and supervise students and doctoral candidates in a variety of logistics-related courses. Being involved in shaping and teaching what future logisticians should carry with them from university is incredibly inspiring!
