The department includes professional languages, English as well as research and teaching in the field of interaction studies.

We offer professional language courses in French, German, Spanish, English, Japanese and Chinese.

The Language and Culture research environment

The Language and Culture research environment is a meeting place for linguistic and literary research in a cultural context.

Doctoral programme

The doctoral programme in language and culture is multi- and interdisciplinary. It comprises 90 ECTs of courses and a doctoral dissertation of 150 ECTs.

The programme takes in the following three perspectives as its point of departure: a culture and media analytical perspective, a literature analytical perspective and a language and interaction analytical perspective. The doctoral programme is run within the research environment Language and Culture which spans the subjects general linguistics, comparative literature and different languages including English, Modern Languages (e.g. French, German, Spanish), Swedish and Swedish as a Second Language.
