Professor i informationskodning

Jan-Åke Larssons forskning handlar till stor del om kvantinformatik, hur information representeras och behandlas i kvantmekaniska system. Dessa system har fördelar som kommer direkt ur fysiska egenskaper hos exempelvis enstaka fotoner.

Nobelpriset belönar bevisen för de snärjda partiklarnas existens

Årets Nobelpris i fysik går till tre forskare som ägnat sin forskargärning åt kvantmekaniska fenomen. Jan-Åke Larsson vid LiU har bidragit med teoretiska delar i experimenten, ledda av en av nobelpristagarna.

Kvantdatorer och fotonik ska locka fler studenter

”Vi har märkt ett starkt ökande intresse från studenterna för kvantdatorer, kvantkryptering, optik och fotonik”, säger Jan-Åke Larsson, initiativtagare till en ny profil på civilingenjör teknisk fysik och elektroteknik.

I 50 år har det funnits teknisk högskoleutbildning i Linköping, först ut att fira är Institutionen för systemteknik. ”Vi är stolta över vår långa tradition av stark forskning, goda utbildningar och en väl fungerande samverkan” säger Jan-Åke Larsson.

De sprider ljus över kvantdatorn

Forskare vid LiU har kunnat visa hur en kvantdator egentligen fungerar och även lyckats simulera kvantdatorns egenskaper i en klassisk dator. ”Våra resultat borde få stor betydelse för hur man bygger kvantdatorer” säger professor Jan-Åke Larsson.

Här är resultatet av det stora Bell-testet

3 283 svenskar, bland dem elever vid Katedralskolan i Linköping, deltog hösten 2016 i ett gigantiskt experiment som utmanade Einsteins tankar om hur världen fungerar i kvantskalan. Nu publiceras resultatet i Nature.

Nu upprepas århundradets experiment, men denna gång med människor som slumptalsgeneratorer och i samma stund på en mängd platser runtom i världen. En gång för alla ska det bevisas om Albert Einstein eller Niels Bohr hade rätt. LiU-forskare deltar.
