Technology and Science Education Research - TESER

Technology and Science Education Research – TESER – is a research unit in science and technology education research that was initiated in 2011.

At TESER, we carry out praxis-related or praxis-relevant research in technology and science education that aims to understand and problematize conditions for learning, teaching and education in, for example, preschools, after-school centres (fritidshem), schools and teacher education. The research conducted at TESER is currently organized under the following four common themes:

  • Historical, philosophical and cultural perspectives on science and technology
  • Language, tools and representations in science and technology
  • Digital tools and the effects of digitalisation in science and technology
  • Assessment and school governance

Technology Education

The research conducted at TESER includes technology education from pre-school up to high school and teacher education, both as a research area and as area of teaching in our various teacher education programs.

Science Education

Subject-based teaching in the natural sciences is a research area that conducts research in conjunction with teacher training at Linköping University, in particular the part which is carried out in Norrköping.

Visual Learning and Communication

Our research is about teaching and learning science with visualizations. We focus on biology and molecular sciences, and are interested in both learning with and design of visualizations.

Doctoral Programme in Science and Technology Education

The doctoral programme gives students advanced knowledge and skills in the didactics of technology and natural sciences in order to make them independent reseachers in the field of the didactics of technology and/or natural sciences.

Swedish National Graduate School in Science and Technology Education Research

Lic-FontD is a network between 10 Swedish universities (2018) and includes local science and technology education research communities at participating universities.
