The AIST lab is an innovative laboratory aimed at promoting research, learning, and education with a focus on:
- AI, simulation, and teaching
- Teacher education primarily, but also other higher education
- Collaboration with relevant stakeholders
The goal is to gather a wide range of perspectives and approaches regarding AI, simulation, and teaching while creating a platform where researchers, teachers, students, and professionals from various fields can meet.
AIST Lab provides researchers, teachers, and students with the opportunity to develop and test various AI tools and train teaching skills (such as leadership, teaching, and subject didactics) in simulations with avatars. By building on LiU's strengths in AI, engineering education, and teacher education, AIST Lab can serve as a national hub to strengthen AI competence not only in teacher education but also in other professional education programs.
Professional development and workshops for teachers and students
All activities during educational initiatives are aimed at teacher educators but can also include teachers in higher education, teacher students, as well as practicing teachers in primary and secondary schools, and researchers in the field.
Research
AIST Lab gathers and highlights the breadth of research on AI and education ongoing at Linköping University and becomes an important hub for building cluster environments within the university, establishing partnerships with other institutions nationally and internationally, seeking external funding, and promoting international exchange.
Societal benefit
AIST Lab aims to disseminate research results and successful practice examples to a broad public through, among other things, open lectures and presentations for professional teachers and the general public. Participate in both practitioner conferences and research conferences to share experiences and present research results.
Prototype and evaluation environment
The lab collects and tests educational technologies related to AI and simulation to evaluate new technological ideas before implementation. The evaluation is carried out in collaboration with teachers and external actors such as Swedish Edtest.
